Rooftop Bar review: In the grand tradition of Joe Edward's establishments, this place only hires dour, slow, and rude staff. From the impatient/snarky door person who lets you go upstairs, to the snail-like service at the bar, there'll be no mistaking you're at one of Joe's places. I really can't stress how terrible the service is. When you've got a full bar, you can stop doing those super awesome bottle flippy/catchy tricks. Last time I was there they charged me $50 for 2 beers and then tried to argue with me about it. They mixed up my tab with someone else. Buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt, I do love the rooftop atmosphere.

LOVE LOVE LOVED the breakfast! Although a bit pricey it was a great meal! Staff was friendly and the selection was good. You know I'll be back!

FH and I stopped by the Eclipse to enjoy a few drinks and an app or two for some alone time in the midst of holiday family together-ness. The drinks were just okay... they have a nice list of signature cocktails, but we found them to be needlessly complicated. Methinks the Coco Chanel rule of style would apply here as well. Add as many ingredients as you want to the recipe, but always take one off before you go to print. We moved over to the dining room for some light dinner and we were not disappointed. The food was lovely, especially the duck loaf, which was really more like a big loose duck meatball or something like that. But VERY tasty. And the wine we got was also wonderful. I think next time FH and I are in the lou and looking for an elegant night out/break from our families, we will hit up the Eclipse again.

We had a brunch here with the family on the rooftop. In short: Good food, reasonable price. They have a standard brunch buffet--omelet station, hot foods, good bacon, good sausage, biscuit and sausage gravy, eggs, roasted potatoes, salads, fruit, pastries, and breads. It was all tasty, service was quite good, and the price was very reasonable.

PROS: -Loop has ample parking -Decor is modern, bar is attached, can accomodate large parties -Can almost always be seated immediately, they have a really large space -reasonable price for the portions (i consider them to have pretty large portions) CONS: -menu changes to the cheese plate appetizer! I was very sad to see they had changed the cheese appetizer plate. This was undoubtably my favorite dish here last time I was here. They use to serve it on a marble slab and it had more fruit and a very nice selection of cheeses. This time they combined it with proscuitto and salami (i'm not really a meat eater, but its a hefty $14 with or without the meat, so I ordered it with the meat anyways). -also note ravioli size is a little smaller than "St. Louis toasted ravioli" sizes. Hope they can bring the original cheese sampler back someday!

If you get a chance to order the chicken tortilla soup it is delicious and nutritious! I shared a house made burger with motzerella, pineapple bacon jam and pretzle bun with my brother it was incredible.

We stayed at Moonrise and decided have breakfast here on our last day. The restaurant was quite full and we had to wait a while for our food. But, the service was good and we also enjoyed the food. We could tell that some of the patrons were locals which says a lot about a hotel restaurant. Highly recommended.

Seems like they finally improved their staff and menu! Glad to have another good choice in the Loop. Things changed for the better here.

I was nervous to try this restaurant after reading and hearing many negative reviews, but I had a good experience here late last night. Nothing else in the area was open and serving food after 11 pm on a Sunday. We were starving and very happy to find that the Eclipse kitchen was still open. In fact, they serve food until 2 am 365 days a year!! The decor and vibe reminds me of The Standard in West Hollywood. It's polished and hip but laid back, not stuffy - a nice change of pace from dives and diners and a good choice when you want to impress someone or when you're just feeling "money" a la Swingers. The cocktail menu was right up my alley. I had the Quantum Leap, made with gin and Chartreuse. I also had the mixed greens salad, which was simple and perfect, and the Petite Croque Monsieur with fries. The sandwich was not a true Croque Monsieur IMHO because there was no cheese on the outside/top, but it was still yummy. The French fries were soggy but not too greasy. They tasted good. My sandwich and fries also came with a lot of pickles: mini gherkins with a strong anise or fennel flavor. I loved them and ate them all (Snooki would be proud!), but I'm not sure so many pickles were necessary. Service was OK. It could have been faster and more attentive considering that the restaurant was not too crowded. The waiter also had trouble understanding my sandwich order because he was unfamiliar with my correct pronunciation. (It is "croke," not "croquet").

The restaurant was, for lack of a better description, unpredictible. The first morning, breakfast was prompt and pretty good. Breakfast day two, really really slow as they said the printer ran out of paper and the kitchen did not get my order and comp'd half my food. Day 3, breakfast took just as long without even an apology. Day 4, oatmeal, tasty but again, very slow. At dinner here twice. The first night, my caprese salad was almost all green tomatoes but my pork dish was amazing! Night 2, my colleague asked for better tomatoes and the salad was great but unfortunately, my chicken fell a bit short and the accompanying risotto was almost cold. Eclipse has the potential to be great but like my stay at the hotel, it just wasn't quite.

I was staying at the Moonrise Hotel and decided to grab a bite to eat here for breakfast. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a bowl of cheerios. You can't go wrong with that! It was the cutest bowl of cheerios that I have ever seen and they topped it off with fresh fruit, which made it even more delicious. The staff were friendly and overall it was a good experience.

Glad I got to make a trip to "The Loop!" This bar has a different $10 drink menu every season, but they are all one-of-a-kind drinks, worth the splurge. Mine was called a winter cobbler and had a whole peach slice in it. Mmmm. Plus, who doesn't want to go see what's inside the building with the spinning moon? Being from Austin, I was impressed with the free coat check.

This place has lost an opportunity to be a real destination I think. It has a very cool vibe to the interior and if you venture over to the hotel lobby to use the bathroom you can get a sense of it's style also with the rainbow lighted steps. It reminds me of an Ian Schrager hotel (Paramount) I stayed at in NYC. We ordered the Peppered Fried Calamari, Lobster Bisque, Preserved Lemon Hummus, Moonlight Greens and the Butter Roasted Chicken and the Spheriod for dessert. While I am not a fan of calamari, it was actually pretty good. The bisque was probably good but I had talked so much after it arrived it was cold when i got to it, but it seemed to have good flavor although nothing special. The hummus had a nice twist to it with the lemon influence and the salad was fresh. The real dissapointment was the chicken, definitely dry on the outside and not all that juicy on the inside. I would not order it again, although the risotto and asparagus it came with tasted very good. The Spheriod for dessert was well made and if you like Key Lime, I would order it. While the waiter was pleasant, he passed a few chances to clear empty dishes from our table. Not something that would happen in a nicer restaurant. I will likely go back again because I really like the setting, and we happened to get a table with a street view, while although it decided to pour down for awhile, was still nice to have. The downpour also cancelled plans to spend time at the rooftop bar, which as it turned out, made for a very noisy time and made it hard to talk without straining your voice as the bar downstairs fillled up with all those from upstairs.

I've eaten here twice and when I joined friends for a drink last night I recalled the many things I like about this place. For starters I was SO excited to see the Weinermobile outside. Probably a little too excited to be honest. But that shouldn't influence my review. The bar has a huge selection, but not a very extensive or adventurous menu (7-8 cocktails, no martini menu). The restaurant doesn't seem to have a cohesive theme yet, tapas and nibbles are far better than their entree choices. It's not bad, it's not great, it's on the pricey side.

Saturday breakfast. Not many diners, yet service was irritatingly slow. Limp hash browns seemed like something from a bag in a freezer, and I'm not sure I buy that the stale cinnamon roll was "house made," unless they mean the house microwaved it. Eggs were great. Water was hard to come by.

Mom & I went here for Easter Brunch earlier today. Food, very good. Waitstaff, excellent. Beverages (iced tea & tomato juice) excellent. Only reason I can't give the food the same rating of excellent as the rest of my rankings is the sausage links were cold, nicely cooked & well spiced but still cold

Meh. The service was OK during a late night visit and not much else can be said about the food. As a Moonrise guest, this is your best option; however, be aware that I don't think the bistro gets as high a marks as the hotel, nor do I think it holds itself to that high of standards. First of all, be prepared to catch some crazy characters in here. From US, to a kid toting a skateboard to the smitten couple who couldn't keep their hands off each other and who were making out full force in the middle of the restaurant... you get your fair share of added entertainment. The food was ok - the salad (which I asked for bleu cheese on the side yet the server who realized this error upon delivery still delivered the salad) to the lackluster fried ravioli that tasted like a french fry dipped in marinara sauce. I've tasted better, and of course tasted worse. Don't come here for the food. Do come here for the ambiance though. And be sure to ask your server for some deets. Especially about the moon collectibles cabinets. What a story that is! Again, on my brief trip I wasn't that impressed - considering the Delmar loop has such great offerings - but if you're staying in the Moonrise, nothing beats the convenience. And the wine selections is pretty fantastic.

Since staying in the hotel, we were awarded complimentary breakfast, so my friend and I took advantage of the opportunity. I love that they serve bottomless coffee (major points after a night of drinking and a few hours of sleep). There were so many choices on the menu, we didn't even know where to begin!! My friend went with the Three Egg Omelet ...with yukon gold potato hash, toast & choice of diced tomato, bacon, mushroom, mixed bell peppers, spinach, ham, cheddar or swiss cheese. I had the Eclipse Benedict ..two poached eggs & country smoked ham on toasted english muffin with sauce hollandaise. It was so filling and lasted all day. I have to say for the price and the amount of food you get, not too bad. I didn't think the prices were bad at all! I can say that I will be back to check this place out again!!

Eclectic food at reasonable prices. Rooftop bar during evening hours is where the scene is though. Worth checking out. 3.5 stars

  • Joi B.

The bar in the evening gets three stars, the coffee gets one star (I tried both an utterly undrinkable cup of drip...pause...cup of drip is a good way to describe it *and* and barely drinkable Americano. If they can't even get an Americano right, there's a problem), service gets three and a half stars, decor gets four stars. It all sort of evens out to three. Just avoid that coffee! Let it be known that I didn't eat anything in the restaurant.

An excellent place to dine...if your parents are paying. Eclipse isn't shy about its prices, but I guess it doesn't have to be because the place was hopping when I last ate here. Service is good, food is good, menu choices are a little limited though. I just realized that based on the classiness, liveliness and fun factor of the restaurant, as well as the vibrancy of the surrounding area, this is probably a great place to take a date. I'll have to test the theory sometime. If I update this review giving Eclipse 1 star with no explanation, you'll know how well THAT went...

After the 1:00 a.m. closing time bell chimed on the U. City side of the Loop, a friend and I ventured into new territory on the other side of the dividing line at Eclipse on a recent late night drinking adventure. While the place was pretty crowded, we were able to get to the bar without a problem, and even snag a fabulously comfortable table to enjoy our beers at. It was a little bit too chilly to hit the rooftop this time around, so I'll save that for future visits. The place definitely has the visible Joe Edwards-touch with all kinds of space and moon related knick-knacks and other tchochkes in various display cases. One downside though, no pitchers of beer. But oh well. At least they have Boulevard Wheat on draught. I hope to return soon for dinner and/or a rooftop bar experience.

I went here for lunch with my husband and a friend on a slow Sunday in September. The food was good, but pricey. Just a heads up--if you order the lettuce wraps you will pay $8 for 2 pieces of lettuce with about 3 tablespoons of filling. They tasted yummy, but was disappointed that there weren't enough for the 3 of us. I had the grilled cheese--it was delicious, and I had the watermelon gazpacho. It was refreshing and delicious as well. My husband had the salmon burger and it was OK--not bad, but nothing special. The service was OK, but the waiter could have been a bit more attentive. The atmosphere was nice. Love the loop and this place fits it. How would I improve it? Larger appetizers and more on the menu to choose from.

Went here with a friend for dinner one after she went and had been raving about it. There was hardly anyone there though, but it as a Monday. For starters we had their toasted ravioli which was great. You have the option of getting pork and fennel sausage ravioli or three cheese and spinach ravioli, but in a red sauce. I don't really like meat filled pasta so it was a nice surprise to see a vegetarian option on the menu. I had their flynn burger and fries... one word: awesome! Ground chuck with wild mushroom ragout, pancetta, smoked gouda and a bourbon demi-glace reduction. I don't see how you could go wrong with that. I couldn't eat all of it and if my leftover are half as good as they were the first time I will be happy. My friend got their special, the flynn burger II. It was in her words "The third greatest burger she had ever had", I think that says something. It had a lot going on and I don't remember all of it but it had avocado on it with a vinegar slaw. When she came here the first time she got their duck loaf (meatloaf made with duck meat!!!!) and said it was amazing. I would have gotten that, but I really really wanted a burger. At the end of our meal our waitress brought out a small dessert plate (oh yeah, we went here for my birthday) that had this rocky road type candy, peppermint dark chocolate bark and shortbread cookies. I don't like peppermint and chocolate together but the cary and cookies were great! Bonus for them is they apparently make their own marshmallows! I will defiantly be back, not only is their food great but their staff was very nice as well.

We were guests of the Moonrise last night due to its close proximity to The Pageant. The hotel and its staff are excellent. Every staff member within the hotel was friendly and helpful. We decided upon breakfast at Eclipse this morning before we got back on the road. I thought the service was average, though my boyfriend later complained to me he felt the waitress was "snotty." However, the food was something we both agree was exceptionally bad. The hash browns were fried to an inedible degree and the bf wouldn't even finish them (this marks the first occasion Of which I have witnessed such an event.) Despite asking for my eggs scrambled "soft", they were cooked dry and took on a rubbery texture. The sausage patties were very greasy and contained a lot of fennel seed, which overpowered what had the potential to be a "meat" flavor. I accept the blame for not sending them back, but i may have felt an obligation to the hotel staff that carried over into the restaurant. We ended up paying $30 for the two of us, which was not outrageous, although now that I put it in writing...

I'd give this really 3 1/2 but I didn't have the option. Our brunch crew went to the brunch buffet in the new moon room this past week. First off, I love the addition of this room to the rooftop! Now just put a pool in already! Now back to business! We had a party of 3 and they only had large 8+ tables or 2tops so we squeezed into a smaller, which would have been ok except that our server was not as timely with clearing our dishes as we would have liked. The food was good, especially at the price of $18 for a Sunday brunch! However it was also very limited and not a lot of awesome vegetarian choices. They did have an omelet station, which according to my friends were great! Our server was pleasant but like I said slow to clear plates, glasses, etc. the only serious serious ding they get is no brunch cocktail specials...no endless mimosas (also pulp...lots of pulp in the mimosa!), no Bloody Mary bar, no signature cocktails...over all it's good not great but worth the $18!

I'm late in writing this review, but I'll write it anyway because it is the only place that, so far, I've given 5 stars. Now me and my boyfriend went on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We were impressed with the staff, food, decor, etc. Our food was served hot and fast. The server was very accommodating as well. We liked it so much that we came back later that night and ended up going upstairs to the Moonlight roof for drinks and back down to Eclipse until 1 a.m. We really enjoyed ourselves and we will go back when it warms up again.

Eclipse totally gives off the swanky vibe, like you're in for a treat, an upscale meal and great drinks. It's got that atmosphere about it. Then, you order. The food is SO not worth the price. Everything is priced to match the feel of the restaurant (upscale and trendy...). However, I couldn't believe how expensive the dishes were for the food we got. My salad was fine but nothing to write home about. My boyfriend got the ravioli, which was totally bland and pretty unappetizing just looking at it. My friend got the trout, which appeared dry and unappealing. Overall, all of our food was totally "meh" when we were expecting something much better. All in all, if you're in The Loop looking for a good place for a meal, there are several MUCH better options for you! They might be less expensive too!

Yea, I get to update my original review! I truly hate to have to give a bad review, but some restaurants can be so offensive I feel that I must speak my piece, as in the case of my original review. However, I am glad to be able to update my review based upon my most recent experience....Hey, I like to be fair...If someone hated my guts and then had a change of heart I'd want to know what I finally did right! Wouldn't you? So my brother came to visit and I gave him the express tour of St. Louis, since he wasn't in town for long. We had a late breakfast and a late lunch, so naturally we went for a late dinner...the only place I could think of with a late dinner menu and rooftop bar to continue my express tour of St. Louis was...you guessed it ECLIPSE! I literally prayed the whole way there that we wouldn't have a bad experience, no joke! After reading Aimee K's latest review I had a glimmer of hope that we'd be okay. My brother had the Salmon and loved it. I had the Shrimp Cocktail and the Mussels, really good! The bartender was super friendly and nice! After we finished dinner we went up to the rooftop to take a gander at the Lou at night and have a nightcap, the great service continued! Thanks ECLIPSE for not making me look like an Ass in front of my brother! You are no longer on my bad list...I'm glad we had the opportunity to kiss and make up, I'm glad we're in a better place now. ***************************************************************************** I'm DONE!!! If I could give this place a -5 I would! I have had some decent experiences on the Rooftop Bar, but hey how can you mess up bringing someone a drink!? The Restaurant/Bar is a freaking disaster from the word GO! Everytime I have gone to the Bar I have been ignored by the bartenders...even after receiving such rudeness I would leave a rather large tip, hoping that when I come back I'd not have to deal with such behavior scratch my back, I'll scratch yours...not from these rude bastards! Not even so much as glint of a smile or a whisper of "Thanks"...Dude you're not doing me a favor, doing your job!!! Get your minds right Eclipse...Do Better! Last night was the kicker! We were there for 2 hours (which was not by choice!) and literally saw our waiter four times = once every 30 minutes (once to take our drink order, once to deliver our drinks and take our food order, once to deliver our food and once when we were walking out the door). We waited waaaay too long for our drinks, once we got our drinks my friend's wine was stale and 90 degrees hot, ridiculous! We ordered the toasted ravioli...they were disgusting! The marinara sauce tasted as if it came out of a can and had HUGE chunks of tomatoes, onions and other nasty bits! Oh yeah, don't let me forget that when he brought the food he actually handed the plate to me for me to place on the table...WTF!? The conclusion of the evening was us tallying up the bill by ourselves and leaving the money on the table! He magically appeared and asked if we were leaving...my friend said "Well isn't that obvious?" This place is off the list...won't be back until they fire the current staff and start over!!!

Overall, beautiful space. And some respectable drinks. But these are overshadowed by a snooty and uninterested staff, who make you feel more like an annoyance than a valued patron. If you do find yourself there, and need to order an overpriced drink, their Month Old Manhattans are delicious.

was here for breakfast at 9:00 on sunday. seated promptly - nice booth. coffee arrived quickly and kept coming. we waited forever...forever...for breakfast. and they really weren't that crowded. i think that was the problem. they didn't have full staff and then it got busy. i don't think you'll be disappointed, but don't expect much.

I just recently ate here with my friend for the first time. The bread they brought out as an appetizer was cold and pre-packaged. I had the duck and my friend had the chicken. The duck was $24 for five measly little pieces of the duck - it couldn't have been more than a duck's leg! I was expecting a generous portion for the price and was grossly disappointed. To make it worse it wasn't very flavorful. My friend was also disappointed with the chicken. He compared it to a fast food restaurant's chicken and the dish had much to be desired. The whole meal was quite disappointing. There wasn't anything unique or wonderful. The ambiance was satisfactory and modern, and the best part of the entire meal was company of my friend, but we will not be eating here anytime again.

After having drinks at the rooftop decided to just pop downstairs for a bite to eat. Should have read the reviews first. Service was AWFUL!! Restaurant was not crowded at all, yet we waited and waited forever for drinks and dinner. Then when the food came the orders were wrong and they admitted they forgot to submit one of the orders and that it would take another 20 minutes to bring it out. Those meals were comped plus a bottle of wine for our wait. Quality of the food was diminished by the service. Will never return. Not worth the money or the time.

I planned my sister's bachelorette party for this past weekend and made dinner reservations at Eclipse. We met at the rooftop bar of the Moonrise, then went down to Eclipse for dinner. I was somewhat worried after reading some reviews of the place, but I couldn't have been happier with the level of service we received, and the quality of drinks and food. There were about 18 girls in our party, and we were given 2 large tables in a somewhat separate room (there were other people in there, but it felt pretty private). We had a server for each table, and I was very impressed by their attentiveness and accuracy, given we had such a large (and somewhat rowdy) party. They even let us get individual checks, which made everything so easy. I'm so happy with the service, I can't say it enough. The drinks: I stuck with wine, but I had sips of other's drinks to try, and all of the cocktails I tried were outstanding. The Plantation had a mix of gin, grapefruit juice, and basil that I would order again and again and will try to recreate at home. The Italian Greyhound was also a gin and grapefruit juice concoction, that was very refreshing and easy-drinking. Next time I'll take the hubs to try out the great-sounding bourbon cocktails. The food: Half the people at my table ordered the veggie ravioli, which was stuffed with Boursin cheese and was smothered in a fresh tomato sauce with big slices of roasted tomatoes and vegetables. It far exceeded my and everyone's expectations. Most of the other people at my table got the chicken, which looked great and everyone seemed to enjoy. I know one other person ordered the steak, and said it was fantastic. I think Eclipse has stepped up it's game, and people giving it negative reviews should give it another chance, even if just for the drinks. I'm very happy that I planned the party here, and I'd love to come back next time I'm in town.

I've only frequented the downstairs bar and the rooftop bar here at Eclipse and they're great spots to hang out and have a good drink. Their signature cocktails are pricey, $9+ but most of them are so strong that just one will do ya. I miss the French 75 being on the menu, though. Rail drinks aren't bad and their beer offerings are diverse. Just like Blueberry Hill, I ADORE Eclipse for offering Strongbow even if it is canned and not on tap like it is at Blueberry. I just about shrieked in excitement Friday night when I saw the rooftop bar had a fridge full of bottles of Bell's Oberon. (This Michigan brewer's seasonal beer is tied with Schlafly's Summer Lager for best summer beer ever. Ever!) The crowd here is diverse and staff is friendly. Even when you walk in and think 'wow, it's packed in here' there always seems to be somewhere to sit or linger without feeling crammed next to someone. When I celebrated my birthday here with friends we had excellent service from Kyle.

First of all I applaud Joe Edwards for his efforts to continue and make Delmar the best street in all of St Louis to visit. Without his vision and efforts the street and U city would be a dilapidated rundown area and not the the engaging, diverse, and profitable place that it has become over the last 30 years. From Blueberry Hill, the Pageant, Tivoli, Bowling Alley and now Eclipse/Moonlight in addition to the Trolley cars coming soon; the man has pursued his wonderful, funky, eclectic vision for U City to it's fullest. That being said, there is no way that this restaurant deserved any of the awards recently won in the Riverfront Times and Sauce magazine. I give the Eclipse high marks for its interior, but the food is very average. I appreciate the efforts of the Chef to bring in some items that you can't find on most StL menus (bone marrow as example) but the food is lacking in layered levels of flavor. The bone marrow was disappointing, the Trout needed some acidity, the Caesar you could get at any Applebees, and most everything was on the cold side. The service was marginal at best. I did think that the Eclipse bar and the Moonrise bar were both being ran by a mixologist with a subtle but loving hand. I wish I would've enjoyed the food more, but much like the other reviewers I will still return to the Moonrise but I will skip the Eclipse and make my way to the bar. I do hope that it improves because I will always support Joe Edwards and his efforts to grow U-City

This place seems like it should be cool, is in a nice location, and seems like the perfect place to go before or after a show at the Pageant. However, all Eclipse has is overpriced food that is bland. The drinks there are good, and the prices on alcohol is reasonable so if you are going out to drink at a nicer place than Eclipse is fine. While there, I ordered the Vegetable Ravioli which came with giants pieces of tomato. The ravioli tasted like it wasn't filled with anything and the only taste I had was tomato so it felt like I was eating a plate of tomatoes. Another person ordered the fish which was also bland and in need of a sauce. The one dish that looked good was the $20 Burger (that is the actual name of the dish). My friend ordered that and said it was good but probably not worth making a special trip to this restaurant. This place is not worth going to unless you are going to hang out and have drinks and not food.

I just had to try this place because my cousin is the executive chef. he had already left for the day so that was a bummer. the food is very good. my girl had duck and i had steak. really good!. oh and the calamari service was great but it was a weekday so not to many people there. I'm not a beer drinker, but I had a desire to experiment. I tried two with the help of the server who was very knowledgeable! still no home run but I have too much of a sweet tooth. I'd like to take my beer expert friends from Chicago here. to sum up good food, good service, lots of drinks to experiment with. the only thing that will limit my visits is the price. with 5 drinks it was a bill ($100).. I'm just too poor to be a regular.http://www.yelp.com/writeareview/biz/ncuEphnQYscOB_KyUUsKfg?return_url=%2Fuser_details%3Fuserid%3DQW_5_uYnaXERk3T2OEQ1rQ&review_id=mak3DTw58ttp9gvjkVgW6A

Horrible, horrible meal experience here. We were guests of the hotel. Front desk told me there were plenty of tables available in the restaurant. Went straight there. Hostesses said that all of the vast array of empty tables were reserved but we could get food at the bar tables too. Yay, we thought! (Why, why, WHY didn't we say no?) Ordered drinks. Ordered food. Waited for drinks. They finally arrived. Waited for food. Waited. Waited. Waited. Waited 45 minutes for two steaks (both of which were cooked incorrectly and one of which was prepared entirely wrong) and limp fries which we had no choice but to try to choke down because we were seeing a show at the Pageant. Which had already started. I managed to eat maybe a quarter of my undercooked, fatty, stringy steak. Did I mention that when the food finally arrived (after three requests from us, including one to the hostess stand as our server disappeared for almost 20 minutes) it didn't arrive with silverware or condiments? We had to chase down the server again for both. The manager comped the meal, and you know what? It wasn't worth it. It wasn't even good for free. The hotel is beautiful, and the restaurant is dragging it down.

5 stars for having by far the best cocktails in St. Louis. I'm not talking about a long list of sugary drinks that places try to pass off as martinis (though if you want something like that, I'm sure they'll make you one). But if you want a a well-made dirty martini or a manhattan, or a unique twist on any of the classic cocktails, this is the place. They also have a really good, cheap breakfast. Omelets the size of my head and cheesy grits are delicious, as are the pancakes. I've gone there for breakfast when I haven't been staying at the hotel, and have never been disappointed. Dinner menu looks a bit more expensive, but I haven't been so can't say whether it's worth it.

I will have to add a nice but incredibly slow breakfast to the list of meals. We joined some friends at the Eclipse for breakfast because they were staying at the Moonrise. Our boys were bouncing off the wall because the meal was so incredibly slow. I wish I could say this was the first time I've had a slow meal there. It is time to bring someone in to streamline the kitchen. The staff was friendly but acted slightly put out with the size of our table and our rambunctious little ones. Our kids were loud, and we tried our best to calm them. But, the glacial speed at which we were served made it a Herculean task. I generally find the staff to be friendly, but not among the best trained of wait staffs. I feel like few have had much experience waiting tables. Especially, regarding dealing with children. So, lesson learned (more than once). I won't go with my son in the future, which means we are unlikely to go again. I believe that there are many places that are adult places where children should not be brought. I'm all for it. But, a restaurant in a hotel should not be better able to deal with them. That is, unless the hotel doesn't want business from families. The food was good. Different members of the party tried different types of benedicts. All were yummy. The french toast was delicious (they make it with egg nog). Remember to ask for syrup that doesn't have rum in it for the little ones.

This restaurant will be my family's "go to" place to dine for many reasons. Dining with a 2 yr old is a huge challenge and these folks made our dinner so fantastic! First off they brought my son a cookie and some fruit. Nothing makes him happier than cookies and fruit. Next, they tried to engage him as if he were also a customer. This is a huge bonus in my book because if he is happy, we are happy. Another added bonus was the outstanding food that was brought to us in a timely fashion but not too rushed. We wanted to enjoy our night out, after all. I ordered the lobster pot pie and was overwhelmed when I saw the size of it. Once I dug it, though, I realized the super light and flaky crust wouldn't overstuff me and the goods inside were reasonably sized. The icing on the cake was the free wifi! Our son really enjoys a little pbs kids on his iPad at dinner time and the free wifi made that possible. We will be returning. Often.

We definitely had 5-star service and the unique atmosphere makes dining here special. And I was very impressed by the non-alcoholic cocktail the bartender made for me. But there were drawbacks. Bread in the breadbasket was a bit stale. The pickles in the pickle plate appetizer were way too acidic and too crunchy. The pork loin was undercooked (altho I hear that it is trend to undercook port these days - still cannot enjoy a pink piece of pork). And the silverware was large and way too clunky for the dishes on the table. But it was an overall nice experience.

I'm surprised to see a few bad reviews on Eclipse here. I've had all positive experiences. But then again I haven't fought the crowds on a warm evening to get up to the rooftop. I've been on the roof a couple times and both were mostly positive. The atmosphere is cool and the view is wonderful. There is limited seating availabe, and the bar is well stocked albeit not the most inexpensive place for a drink. The food, everytime I've been there, has been great. Full disclosure, I'm friends with one of the chefs so I may be getting the best the kitchen has to offer. But I've ordered off every aspect of the changing seasonal menu and have enjoyed each dish. The drink menu is really good. It's not the best in the city as that title is held firmly by Ted Kilgore at Taste by Niche. But the menu at Eclipse is WELL above average and it seems as though they are making attempts at unique and quality cocktails and challenging the diners taste buds. The wine list is exceptional as even the Wines by the Glass are priced well and delicious. Overall I think this is a great place for a night out. I prefer to dine out during the week rather than the weekend because the service is usually better and more attentive and you don't have to fight the line of people trying to get on the roof if the weather is nice.

I stayed at the Moonrise hotel and had 3 meals here....a lunch, dinner and a breakfast. Honestly, it's a bit pricey but then again, it's hotel food so what do you expect? The food isn't bad at all. I don't really recall what I ordered but I don't recall my experience being really negative. The only thing I'd complain about is the pasta with the flat noodles was tasty but a bit oily. That's about it. For breakfast, I had a yogurt parfait and it was pretty good. Nothing much to rave about but for the most part, I enjoyed it.

I agree with Alex about the decor. I loved the booth seats. Very cool looking. Ambience was okay. Breakfast menu was kind of limited. I wanted crepes, but they didn't have any. Instead, I settled on the french toast. Very very very delish! There was a crunchy crust on top. It didn't taste tooo greasy, & it didn't look like it had a ton of butter. The service was good.

I did not have the same experience as the scott, but overall it was not exceptional nor exceptionally bleak. It was just okay. The decor was interesting, though some practicality might have been sacrificed for looks. The place was unusually empty for a Friday lunch, with my group being one of three dining. I had the grilled chicken club with the fries. After about 10 minutes of waiting, the server came out with our food. After taking a bite of the sandwich, it didn't taste very different from any other club at any other establishment. I decided just to take a bite out of the chicken to see if it had any flavor. To my surprise, there was lemon, pepper, and a handful of other flavors that were hidden behind a veil of honey mustard spread on the bread. I found that eating the sandwich separately brought more satisfaction compared to eating everything as a sandwich. The fries were oily and soggy. I'm not sure if that's how they were supposed to be, but I don't like those kinds of fries. Think homestyle soggy fries, and that's what you get. Overall it was an experience worth having, but unless others are dying to go, I don't think I'll be back.

Came with a group of 6 last night for dinner. The decor looks like a bad replication of the Jetsons and the background music is painfully bad. The calamari was really good, the ravioli wasn't. I had the strip steak - it was terrible. We came because of the location and will be back, so hopefully it will be better next time.

i only had drinks here but I thought the strawberry-basil martini is the best drink I have had in a long time and I live in South Beach. I also loved the sparking cava and the waitress was nice and the bartender seemed to know what she was doing. Can't ask for more than that.

Came here for lunch at noon. Service is great. food pretty decent: not perfect but reasonable prices. Much better than a fast food burger joint like Five Guys for about the same price and far better experience. Very nice feature is the ability to charge my plug-in car while we ate, and there is no charge to plug in.

This is the new restaurant in the new Moonrise Hotel in the Delmar Loop. We went for dinner on the 4th of July and had an APPALLING experience. After we found bugs in one of our waters and the waiter failed to apologize much less show any remorse, the food took nearly an hour to be prepared, was extremely expensive, and not very good. The steaks were overcooked, the fish tasted too fishy, and our waiter was a jerk. Not only did he not apologize for anything when we complained but he would hover over our table and stare at us without asking if we needed anything. I realize this sounds over the top but seriously, the food was mediocre at best and was extremely expensive. If I didn't feel so bad for our awkward waiter I wouldn't have tipped. Not planning on going back and I'll say this is the first letdown I've felt from a Joe Edwards project.

This is a nice place down in Delmar (The Loop). The restaurant is spaced themed, and has lots of old and new collectibles in display cases. We went on a Wednesday night and wasn't busy at all. Note you are by the university. It's a great atmosphere nice and relaxed. Had a good drink selection to choose from. The menu wasn't big but that's fine with me. Enough variety to choose from salads soups and main meal. That way your not spending forever looking at a menu. Waitress was nice and friendly and didn't keep coming by and asking questions or trying to talk more than she should be. After dinner we went up to the rooftop and got dessert. The roof top is amazing at sunset and on cooler nights

This is a place where... ... the lighting is really nice - without the lighting Eclipse is precipitously close to being a space-oriented-flair-focused casual restaurant tacky-fest. I imagine that lunch service might slip more toward a strange cafeteria-esque casualdom, but for dinner the ambiance was just right - private without being isolating, peaceful without being stuffy, and fun without being corny. ...you could come with a group of friends or a first date, the environment will give you plenty to chat about and the food is just creative enough to be adventurous without being overwhelming and even those with conservative tastes can find some meat and potatoes. ...service is amazing - the waiter was genuine and knowledgeable and excited about the food. He was friendly without being pushy and didn't once interrupt any of the conversation at the table. ... the menu is maybe a work in progress, I hope. Right now it's a little too clever for it's own good, in a pun-tastic sort of way. The marrow appetizer was delicious, but the pickled vegetables - which could have very been good in some other context - more or less amounted to a tragic pile of would-be garnishes. The entrees were delicious, but I was disappointed again at dessert when my moon pie was only a little better than the commercial ones (I hope they work on that, it could be amazing). This is NOT a place where... ...you probably want to bring somebody who doesn't appreciate trendiness. I have several older family members who would be seriously annoyed by the mood of this place and the tongue-in-cheek cutesy menu. If your dinner guest is the type of person who goes to Denny's but orders "Moons Over My Hammy" by calling it the "ham and egg sandwich", you might want to find another restaurant. ...parking is easy. I blame the Loop. Bleh.

Me and Stephanie B stopped in here for a drink last night with a couple friends. I thought it was pretty cool that all the beers they have on tap are local brews, and no I do not mean Budweiser. They seemed to have a nice wide variety of alcohols and a selection of bottled beers as well. The prices were ok, not uber expensive but not cheap either. The four of us were the only ones in there, but I guess for 7:00 on a Tuesday night that might not be too much of a surprise.

We had a package that included breakfast with our stay. I opted or the more expensive breakfast and paid extra for it. The food was really good. I was surprised because for ten bucks you get a lot of high quality food. Yet the place was almost empty.

Very nicely designed and decorated restaurant! I have only had their breakfast and it was yummy. The prices were comparable with breakfast anywhere else and more affordable than breakfast at other hotels. So it was nice not having to run out for breakfast. The food was awesome!! Perfectly prepared, very good portions, and good variety to choose from (fresh fruit, eggs any way you want them, granola & yogurt, etc.) I would definitely recommend it for breakfast! However, their lunch and dinner prices did look a bit too high. I didn't try any of their offerings for lunch or dinner so I can't comment on these.

my first time here was when we stayed at the moonrise. the mixologist here are freakin awesome. all of their mixed drinks are the shit, no lie. strong, tasty. different. in love. our server was awesome, the steak was great, as was their verson of a cobb salad...back to that in a moment. lost a star for the caprese...tomatoes were damn near green...not cool. the green beans were so crunchy and flavorful!! room service was prompt and had a beautiful set up. this place is open til 3am...so when i was craving salad some time after our stay, we called in for the salad...its freakin delish. chicken, bascon, onions, cucumbers, blue cheese, their ranch is fab. yes im raving about a cobb salad here and it has a different name i cant remember, i just described it over the phone and he knew lol. but seriously try it. good prices too

This review is based purely on the bar, as I didn't actually try any of the food. For a Friday night, it was pretty packed - luckily for us, our night started early enough that we were able to sit at one of the cocktail tables. The service was pretty mediocre - it took a while to get drinks and it seemed to take quite a bit of effort to get our waitress' attention when we needed something. When new ppl in our party arrived, they were ignored even though the waitress acknowledged that add'l ppl had joined us. Drinks were OK - they have a list of specialty cocktails. The "Judy Jetson" would be a perfect drink for anyone who doesn't like the taste of alcohol and wants their drink to taste like sugary candy. Specialty cocktails are $10, but drink prices for everything else seemed average (capt. & coke cost $6). Interesting decor, but probably not the best for large groups. Also, despite having quite a few TVs with sports on, it didn't look like they had HD set up, so don't bother coming here to watch a game.

Mixed experiences, but overall hope to go Back. Had amazing breakfasts here twice. Outstanding veggie omelets and great coffee. Also fun atmosphere. Came for lunch with a large group and it was a disaster - food didn't come for several within the hour and they had to take it to go back to work. Hope that was an off day, but would never come again with a large group for lunch. Now the Moonrise bar is fantastic.

We had an amazing dinner here. The four stars are for the price not the food. The atmosphere is fun yet sophisticated. The management is top tier. The drinks are reasonably priced, and the food is awesome but pricey. I had the pretzel app, the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. The bisque was knock your socks off great!!!My bf had the stuffed zucchini and loved it. If someone payed for it Id be there in a second.

I was SO excited to have our anniversary dinner here! It looked absolutely amazing from their website! I made a reservation a month in advance. The day before someone from the restaurant called me to confirm. The day of the reservation I received an email and a text. I thought this was a sure sign they would be packed! We arrived early thinking we'd have a drink on the rooftop that we couldn't wait to experience in person. Instead, we were seated right away, which was fine. There were only 2 other tables of people and we were seated directly next to one of the occupied tables where the people were talking very loudly. Our table was a very small 2 top against the wall. We noticed that there were really cute tables in front next to the window. I had put in the comment section of the reservation request that it was a special occasion. We just figured that maybe people were coming for those table, but no one did from 7:30 - 8:30 when we were there for dinner. Guess we should have asked to move. We joked that the reason we received so many confirmations for our reservation is because they wanted to ensure they had the 3 tables of people that Saturday night! The food was so over priced and not very good. Our orders included cheese puffs as an app. We expected to see large, baked cheese balls, but what they served came in a small bowl and there were tiny mushroom looking objects that tasted somewhat like a pretzel with shredded cheese mixed in that was barely melted. We each only ate one of those, but they did take them off the bill after the server asked if there was something wrong with them. We had a salad that was ok, nothing special, and our entrees included the herb chicken and salmon. We're not huge eaters by any means, but these were just so-so sized portions and really didn't come with much of anything. So, to sum it up, it was somewhat of an odd experience in a basically empty restaurant with sub par food that was expensive. The rooftop, however, was wonderful! Everything from the furniture to the view was spectacular! It was so crowded we had to stand the entire time. We will go back again, only earlier and only for the rooftop bar!

This is a review for the bar in the Eclipse Restaurant only. Stopped by after dinner with a large group for drinks at the bar last night. Charlie was the only bartender and he was QUICK at taking care of all of the drink orders. The drink menu had just been updated for the season, so all of the drinks were new to him, but he executed each complex drink with speed and skill. I had the "Sweet Ankle Tatt" cocktail made with tequila, grenadine, lime juice, pear, and ginger. Wonderful! You could taste every flavor- sweet and refreshing on a hot night. I also had the 90210 cocktail- kinda tasted like a pina colada but with more going on since there was both vodka and Pisco mixed with the pineapple and coconut. Another drink that screams "summer!"

I want to clarify by saying that Eclipse is still first and foremost a great bar in St. Louis. It's pretty much the same as the Moonrise room on the top floor, just on the main floor. However, I came here recently for a work breakfast and it was way better than your typical hotel food. First off, you're at a boutique hotel so the service is amazing. The staff treat you like royalty and really know the meaning of customer service. Their breakfast menu is simple and spot on. I went with the breakfast burrito, tea, and a side of bacon. The tea is your typical bagged tea but the food was above and beyond for a hotel. The burrito was cooked and wrapped perfectly with plenty of egg, peppers, chorizo, and cheese. On top of that, the bacon was one of the most thick cut bacon I've ever had. Soooo good. Who would have thought Eclipse has a great breakfast?

Solid breakfast. I had an omelet and my boyfriend had the eggs Benedict. Both were cooked well. My boyfriend specifically noted the good hollandaise sauce on this eggs. The waitress was very nice and very quick with our orders. Would recommend for breakfast if you are staying in the moonrise hotel. We also stopped here for drinks after checking in to the hotel, super late at night because our flight was delayed. Good beer selection and the bartender was also very nice. Would recommend.

Excellent breakfast! With Eclipse being attached to a hotel, going in I was a little concerned about the quality. My experience with restaurants attached to hotels has not been good in the past, but Eclipse has totally changed my opinion. Our breakfast started out with a spicy and flavorful Bloody Mary. I enjoyed a Three Egg Omelet with bacon, onion and pepper jack cheese. I'm trying to go low carb, so our server was very accommodating and allowed me to substitute my side of hash browns with asparagus. My omelet was fluffy, filled with the bacon and onion and had the cheese melted and poured on top. It was a delightful twist, to the typical cheese inside. My dining partner enjoyed Eggs Benedict with asparagus and a side of Hash Browns. For a hotel and only $9, this was an impressive Eggs Benedict. We both enjoyed the asparagus, it was done to perfection. Butter, a dash of salt and steamed to a perfect snap. The Hash Browns were served crispy, my favorite way. I had to be strong and stay low-carb. Good friendly service, great food and free valet parking makes Eclipse worthy of my Breakfast,Bloody Mary and Benedict list.

I picked to have our Anniversary dinner here because it was certainly out of the box. IT was Fabulous! They confirmed my reservation, the staff was very pleasant and everything was great. Pricing a little high but to be expected. The restaurant was not busy at all and we got to sit in the private back room, made the nite even better! The rooftop is amazing!! It was packed! Perhaps if they offer a few lower end entrees they will get more peeps to dine. It is a fabulous experience and the ambiance is out of this world. Totally recommend!

We had a great Fourth of July stay-cation at the Moonrise Hotel - viewing fireworks all over the city from the rooftop bar until the wee hours of the morning!! Topped off our mini-vacation with brunch at the Eclipse restaurant. I enjoyed the inventive and flavorful Felafel Benedict while hubby had a yummy omelet. And we got $25 off courtesy of the hotel for buying the Fourth of July VIP package. Also came with valet parking and $20 of drinks! Sweet!!! Can't wait a while year to come back so you'll see us back for drinks on the rooftop all summer!!

It's definitely worth trying. The décor is fun and beautiful. I ordered the pear salad and the potato gouda gratin. I was very happy with both! I went here today for a private party, so I can't speak for the whole menu, but of the selections we were given, I was very happy with my entree. I got an omlette with hash browns and sausage on the side and everything was delicious! My brother got a breakfast burrito, and I stole a bite and would have been equally satisfied with that. The atmosphere of the Eclipse is really neat and unique! It's retro-space themed, and it kind of makes you feel like you are part of the old TV show Meet the Jetsons. Something totally different from the norm, which I enjoyed. The three star rating comes from the service. They were a little slow at refilling drinks and making sure we had everything we needed. Additionally, about half our group got their food 30 min earlier than the rest and were basically finished with the meal as the other half started.

This is try #2 and I strongly recommend that you stick with the basic', the real basic, i. e., a hamburger. Their cheese soup was huge, pasty and way too thick. My wife's Cobb salad was a bowl of lettuce with a few additives. My Puchutto ham was cut so thick and was so dry that it was im possible to cut! Service was attentive but sloppy. Desserts were good. $100 for two, not again.

Right by the pagent on Delmar, the Eclipse is a fun place to eat before a concert or while staying at the moonrise hotel. Unfortunately, it kind of tastes like hotel food. The dishes offered are interesting and have good intentions. And it's not that the food is bad by any means, it's not at all, it's just not exceptional in any way. It's food, nothing more. The staff was super pleasant and our waitress did a great job. But still, with those prices, I was expecting a little more bang for my buck.

So the Eclipse Bar is the best bar in St. Louis. I can't really comment on the food, but Taste, Sanctuaria, Fortune Teller --these places don't touch the Eclipse Bar in terms of craftsmanship. You can tell a lot about a bar by its spirits, and the Eclipse Bar has everything, including the newest spirits on the market. They get them months before any of the other bars, and they study them intensely so they know how to use them. Seth runs the bar, and he's most of the reason this place is such an institution. He's the best bartender in St. Louis, and he hires the best bartenders in St. Louis. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of cocktails upon which he's innovated and built a personal relationship with the way spirits interact with each other. You won't find a better cocktail in this city. Just two tips: 1) Go here when you really want a perfect cocktail. They serve vodka redbulls etc., but this place isn't cheap, and it's a waste of an order. 2) Don't be stubborn, and be open to recommendations from your bartender. They know what they're doing here.

Somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. It's a great space attached to a beautiful boutique hotel on the Loop. Decor / cleanliness: 5/5 (everything was perfect, comfy booths, small tear on seat cushion, moon theme was pretty cool) Atmosphere: 5/5 (Casual, relaxed) Service: 3.5/5 (Friendly, nice, could have been a tad faster) Side Salad: 5/5 on both greens and Caesar salads, large portions for a side Crawfish Bites: 4/5 (only docking a point because $7 is about $1 too much for only 4 pieces, but they were very tasty) Grilled Cheese: 4/5 Excellent!!! with bacon and apple slices, hold the onions, would have preferred slightly less thick bread, description said thick bread but man this was thick. See the pictures. I also had the scallops here on a previous visit and a Chopin vodka martini, both were 5/5, during dinner.

Great LOUNGE, not so great food! This is a wonderful place for large groups - there are huge clumps of couches, chairs, loveseats and tables - such a wonderful place to have large get togethers because everyone can sit in the same area and have conversation. I'm not impressed with the food though... definitely tastes like hotel food. Their drinks are not astronomically high, but this also isn't the place to go to drink on a budget. Trendy atmosphere and cute decor. I really like to hang out here with friends and have a cocktail!

A rooftop bar that is tough to beat. The view is great. The atmosphere the same. And the customer service even better. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable; in fact, when they served my friend the wrong drink, they comped that one and the new drink they brought for him. I cannot tell what the normal crowd is like, but it seems quite eclectic. I suggest the next nice night, you find you way to this rooftop.

We went here for breakfast after staying at the hotel, and it was very very good. We were one of two people there for breakfast, but it was also on a Thursday morning and there weren't any concerts the night before. I imagine they weren't all that busy. But our breakfast was fantastic! I had an omelette while my husband had the eggs benedict. And all of it was great! They serve Kaldi's Coffee, so that was a nice touch too. Our waitress kept my coffee cup full, though my husband's water did go empty for some time. Either way, I'd love to go here again--the prices weren't out of this world and the food was excellent.

  • Tiffany N.

Eh, I can't speak to the food, but the rooftop bars and drinks are pretty, pretty cool in my book. There's a giant revolving moon, hanging lamps that look like planets, tons of outside/open air seating and champagne by the glass. While I was there on a Thursday night there were plenty of spaces to stand or sit, but it wasn't empty - just uncrowded. The bartenders were quite pleasant and the drinks were reasonably priced. I'm no STL expert, but if you are staying at the Moonrise (which is an absolutely lovely hotel by the way) you could do worse than drinks at Eclipse.

I went here for breakfast on a Friday morning because the pastry/coffee shop down the street didn't open till like 10:30. 10:30? Really? Anyway, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, side o ham, and warm banana bread was perfect. And juice. Atmosphere was good, I sat and got some work done before leaving town, and the waiters were attentive. Go here. It opens early like a breakfast place should.

Had a snack before a show at The Pageant while staying at the oh-so-swank hotel, The Moonrise. The pommes frites were great with the mussels. The foccacia was very soft and great for the jus. I have to remind myself that I am not in the South when traveling.

Outstanding cocktails. Enjoyed the 5 Easy Pieces and Michigan Pimm's Cup, both were excellent. Had the green salad with almonds - tasty! My dining partner enjoyed the porkchop, cooked to his liking. I LOVED the lobster shells and cheese with andouille sausage and garlic toast. Best comfort food I've had in a long time. The restaurant has a very hip atmosphere and our server Tyler was very kind and attentive.

Have only been there for breakfast, but I have to go five stars based on that--hands down the best "hotel restaurant" breakfast I've had. Based on the execution and quality of the ingredients, I'd put it up against any breakfast spot in town. Highly recommend the Eclipse Breakfast, which is your standard two eggs, hash browns, choice of bread, choice of meat, etc. At $10.99 it also comes with your choice of juice and unlimited Kaldi's coffee, which they could have easily charged as separate items (like most hotel restaurants). The eggs were cooked perfectly, as were the hash browns and the bacon was thick-cut and smoked. The wheat bread was also artisan-type quality. They also sell their own brand of hot-sauce, which is a habanero-lime concoction that they age in bourbon casks--very citrus-bright and complex with the signature habanero flavor but not with an excessive amount of heat. Compared to a lot of hotel restaurants breakfast was not only less expensive but also had a delicious home-made quality. I would highly recommend this to anybody needing a great breakfast after a night at the hotel's rooftop lounge.

Stopped for some drinks and dessert. The drinks were good (and very strong) but I would skip the dessert....not so great. The prices are pretty high too. The inside is nice and trendy, it was pretty calm for a saturday night. The main reason why I gave this place an 3 star review was because as we were leaving we saw the valet get a car for a woman who was clearly over served and was chugging a beer as she was waiting for her car. I think its just irresponsible to let someone who is that drunk drive, especially in a very crowded neighborhood.

We popped into this restaurant on a Monday night during a popular concert just next door at The Pageant nightclub. Happy hour was in motion and that part of the restaurant was popular with people. The restaurant was practically empty, but the ambiance was still inviting. We enjoyed a good beer while waiting for our food. The pretzel-coated fish was fresh and hot. I loved my two sides of garlic mashed potatoes and acorn squash - YUM. I recommend this place as a pre-concert destination.

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a very long time. I finally got the chance when I went for a friends birthday celebration double date. Ooolalala. So our server was clearly uninterested in our table. If you peek at my previous review, you'll notice I had the same experience when I went to their upstairs lounge like a year ago. We all ordered one of their speciality cocktails. I love craft drinks. Unfortunately our server knew nothing of the ingredients which is kind of irritating. She didn't even offer to go figure it out. Wtf. So I just kinda ordered one w gin as the main ingredient because I like gin. We ordered the calamari to start too and it arrived within 10 minutes, 5 minutes before the drinks arrived. When the drinks finally did arrive the server just kind of set them down and ran away. She put them all in the wrong places and we didn't know which was which because they were craft drinks. It was irritating. I'm still convinced I didn't get the right drink. It was god awful. For din, I split the pretzel trout w my date. It was on par. As were the sides. The main course was much more enjoyable than anything else. I wanted to stay and enjoy dessert, coffee, etc but my stomach was still so turned from that craft drink that we left. I just don't know if we'll be back. I really wanted to like this place because it's so cool but I'm pretty turned off after the entire experience. Being from out of town, I'm sure there are a lot of other options in St. Louis. If you know of any, be sure to send me a message. I love trying new places.

This review is for the rooftop bar: great atmosphere for al fresco drinks where you can see all of Delmar Loop and (at least when I was there) you can WATCH THE MOON RISE ... AT THE MOON RISE HOTEL. Pretty cool. Came on a Friday night over Memorial Day Weekend with a friend; we indulged in $10 cocktails but also more reasonably priced $4 beers. We found seating pretty easily but don't know if that would've been the case if we'd arrived later. My friend knew the servers, but regardless it seemed like service was pretty quick.

I loved Eclipse. It was perfectly convenient for me as I was staying in the Moonrise Hotel, which is the hotel it is part of. The rooftop deck is obviously the highlight of Eclipse, especially since it brings you closer to the moon than you ever thought possible. Of course, we're talking about the giant moon they have spinning at the top of the building. The atmosphere is the absolute best draw about this place. The drinks were great - when I got to the point of mild incoherence, I couldn't think of a drink and asked the bartender to make me something with St. Germain. Whatever he made was great. I also ordered a flat bread pizza with tomato sauce, chicken, zucchini, and cheese. It was pretty good. The only problem with it was that I had to share it with my friends. UGH.

It's definitely worth trying. The décor is fun and beautiful. I ordered the pear salad and the potato gouda gratin. I was very happy with both! My boyfriend and dad said their meals and drinks were okay. We also enjoyed the drunken shrimp cocktail. I recommend it for the experience. This looks like a neat area.

UGH.

Overall, beautiful space. And some respectable drinks. But these are overshadowed by a snooty and uninterested staff, who make you feel more like an annoyance than a valued patron. If you do find yourself there, and need to order an overpriced drink, their Month Old Manhattans are delicious.

They might be less expensive too!

was here for breakfast at 9:00 on sunday. seated promptly - nice booth. coffee arrived quickly and kept coming. we waited forever...forever...for breakfast. and they really weren't that crowded. i think that was the problem. they didn't have full staff and then it got busy. i don't think you'll be disappointed, but don't expect much.

Often.

Ate dinner here and then breakfast the next morning after staying the night in the hotel. Both meals and the service were outstanding. Dinner was a little expensive ($15 for a burger) but breakfast very reasonable.

The food is good, although I really wish they would reinstate the abbreviated late night menu. The cocktails are interesting, and I've always had outstanding service at the bar.
